Case study - Energy efficiency - Asarel Medet JSC

Asarel Medet JSC is Bulgaria’s largest copper miner producing 13 million tons of copper ore per year and is one of the country’s leading exporters. The project financed under the BEERECL upgraded the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at five administrative buildings, and replaced four old forklifts. The new HVAC system, known as a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system, distributes space heating or cooling using a refrigerant in tubing rather than air in ductwork. It results in significant energy savings, increased room temperature control and is easier to install. The new forklifts reduce both fuel consumption and maintenance and repair expenses.
